The Laboratory and Diagnostics Team Leader supervises laboratory staff, including technicians and technologists, by assigning tasks, setting performance goals, and ensuring smooth workflow operations. This role involves providing training, mentorship, and leadership to foster a positive and productive work environment while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards such as ISO, CAP, and CLIA. Key responsibilities include implementing and monitoring quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) programs, maintaining accurate documentation, and overseeing laboratory accreditation and certifications. The leader ensures proper equipment maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting while managing inventory and supplies to prevent disruptions. Additionally, the role requires optimizing workflows for efficiency and accuracy, overseeing test processing and interpretation, and ensuring timely and precise reporting of results. Collaboration with physicians, nurses, and healthcare providers is essential for patient diagnostics and treatment planning, including participation in multidisciplinary meetings. The leader stays updated on advancements in laboratory techniques and technology, enforces strict biosafety and infection control protocols, conducts risk assessments, and implements safety measures. Training staff on hazardous material handling and addressing lab-related concerns with expert guidance further ensures a safe and high-performing laboratory environment.
